On January 1st, 2023, I made a life-changing decision: I chose to bid farewell to alcohol and embark on a journey towards sobriety. Little did I know that this decision would not only transform my relationship with alcohol but also significantly impact my battle with Hashimoto’s disease. Today, I want to share my story of how embracing sobriety, coupled with mindfulness practices like breathwork and meditation, has brought an unexpected sense of peace into my life.

College Days and Carefree Abandon

Back in my 20s, during my college days in Poland, parties were epic affairs that always included a generous amount of alcohol. Those nights were filled with laughter, dancing, and camaraderie, but they inevitably led to massive headaches and hangovers the following day. It was a time of carefree abandon, but little did I know how it would affect my future.

Fast forward to 2014 when I made the move to the United States. My lifestyle began to shift as I settled into a new environment and culture. I found myself drinking alcohol only occasionally, and the wild party nights of my youth became distant memories. Yet, even as I curtailed my alcohol consumption, I still occasionally indulged in a glass of wine here and there. It seemed harmless at the time, but little did I know that it was contributing to the challenges I would face in my health journey.

The turning point came on January 1st, 2023, when I made the life-altering decision to give up alcohol completely. It was a decision that not only reshaped my relationship with alcohol but also revitalized my fight against Hashimoto’s disease.
